Friendship Village of Bloomington residents, team members, local dignitaries, and Lifespace home office leaders celebrated the groundbreaking on a $114.5 million expansion and redevelopment project. Currently home to more than 470 residents, the project will add a new independent living building with 93 apartments alongside a variety of services and amenities. Additionally, the 1.75-acre expansion will include a new health center building with a state-of-the-art physical and occupational therapy gym, memory care suites, and assisted living apartments.

Renovations will also be made to Friendship Village’s current health center to redesign all skilled nursing and rehab suites. These additions and updates coincide with an expected increase in demand for senior living options locally. According to the Metropolitan Council, more than 20% of all Twin City residents will be age 65 or older by 2040.
