1. Find your luxury senior living community
Our primary goal is to ensure our residents and prospective residents have all the information they need to make the decision that is right for the needs and desires of their lifestyle. We encourage you to do thorough research and explore the options available to you. Schedule an in-person or virtual tour of a few other communities near you to get a feel for their personalities and try to picture yourself there. If you can, evaluate the other important items on your list “ is it close to friends and family? How are the community amenities? What sort of long-term care do they offer?
At Friendship Village of Bloomington, you’ll discover a fun, friendly and active community with top-tier amenities. Our residents have traveled all over and are proud to call Minnesota home. Our award-winning community, tucked away near Tierney’s Woods, offers the quiet solitude of nature with proximity to Minneapolis dining and attractions. 2. Sign a contract
If a friendly community of kindred spirits sounds like what you’re looking for, don’t wait to make your move. The best time to move into a Continuing Care Retirement Community (CCRC) is now while you are active, healthy and making proactive choices. One of the most common refrains we hear from our residents is “I wish I would have done this sooner.”
Once you’ve determined that Friendship Village of Bloomington is the perfect senior independent living community for you, your next step is to contact our sales team to narrow down your choice of townhome or apartment floor plan, put down a deposit and sign a reservation agreement.
At this time, we’ll also provide you with the financial and medical assessment paperwork. As a Life Care community with a Type A contract, we see to it that should you ever require additional health care or memory support, these services are available on-site at no additional fee. All healthcare coverage and amenities are built into your one monthly fee. The confidential medical and financial documents help set you up for a secure future.
3. Set your closing date
With the financial and medical qualifications completed, we’ll confirm your closing date and connect you with our on-site move-in coordinator. The move-in coordinator’s primary objective is ensuring that your move is as pleasant and seamless as possible, through moving day and beyond.
The first thing our move-in coordinator will do is help you select the personalization options for your new home. We’ll oversee these updates and ensure they are completed before you move in.
Closing on your new home at Friendship Village of Bloomington can take up to 90 days, but often takes less time than that. Many residents find that once they get the wheels moving on this process they are ready and eager to make the move.
4. Selling your house, organizing and packing
With moving day on the horizon, start organizing a successful move “ line up a moving company, contact your realtor and begin sorting through your belongings. If you do not have a preferred moving company or real estate agent, our move-in coordinator will connect you with one of our recommended partners.
The process of right-sizing, or streamlining your belongings to only the essentials for your new space, is often one of the most emotionally and physically taxing aspects of the entire moving process.
“Start by listing the best furniture in each room,” advises Louise Boyle, Move-In Coordinator at Friendship Village of Bloomington. “Figure out how to use your favorite pieces in new ways and make the furniture you keep do multiple duties. Perhaps replace a king- or queen-size bed with standard double.”
If you wish, our move-in coordinator will pay you a visit to help you with this process. Together, we can evaluate your furniture against your new floor plan and decide what will fit.
5. Move in
On closing day, our team will meet you to handle closing paperwork and provide you the keys to your new home. We will ensure there is a designated unloading zone for your movers, a clear path to your home and elevator access if needed. We also provide moving assistance to get the truck unloaded and and your items unpacked expediently. Our team understands how physically, mentally and emotionally exhausting the moving process can be “ we are here to help with the physical components while you are busy with the emotional heavy lifting.
In the hustle and bustle of coordinating a move, it’s easy to lose sight of the smaller items you’ll want to have on hand immediately. We like to remind residents to have a clearly marked box or bag filled with essential items and readily accessible on moving day. Be sure to include any prescriptions or chargers you’ll need access to and if your four-legged companion is making the move with you, don’t forget their essential items too.
6. Welcome home
When moving day is over, allow yourself to relax. The most demanding part of your move is over. Take your time unpacking and organizing your space. As you get acclimated to your new home and identify items you’d like hung on your walls, there’s no need to pull out your hammer and level, just give maintenance a call and they’ll take care of that right away. That’s one of the benefits of living here!
Our move-in coordinator and other team members will continue to stop by over the coming weeks to get to know you better and make sure we’re doing everything we can to meet your needs.
